Wesmen Unveil New Website
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen are proud to announce their “new look” website (www.wesmen.ca). The new and updated website was launched this morning.
The new Wesmen website was made possible by the hard and dedicated work of Michelle Del Rizzo (Senior Project Manager), Marnie Loewen, (University of Winnipeg Webmaster), Ian Lark (Senior Web Designer), Wildfire Online (Web Design), Simian Systems (Programming) and the University of Winnipeg Athletics staff.
The new look will feature all the latest news on the Wesmen, multi media content, information on fitness memberships at the Bill Wedlake Fitness and the Duckworth Centres, our extensive customer services, and community and campus events.
“This crisp, bold and easy to navigate website now mirrors the award winning University of Winnipeg’s main website. It will only enhance the way we connect with our fans and Wesmen family. We will continue to add features to this new website. I invite everyone to give us their feedback on what they would like to see added”, said Athletic Director Doran Reid.
Vincent Massey's "Dynamic Duo" Commits to Women's Basketball Program

A pair of provincial champions are set to join the University of Winnipeg Women’s Basketball Program. Head Coach Tanya McKay is pleased to announce that the “dynamic duo” of Stephanie Kleysen and Ashleigh Chichlowski, from Vincent Massey Collegiate have committed to joining the Wesmen for the start of the 2010-2011 season.
“We are ecstatic to have these two quality players joining our program. Both are great additions, both will make an impact,” added Wesmen Head Coach Tanya McKay.
Stephanie Kleysen, a 5’10 guard, played a vital role in helping the Vincent Massey Trojans capture the Provincial AAAA High School Basketball Championship last season. She was named a tournament all-star and was recognized on the All Manitoba Team for 2009. This past summer she was a member of Team Manitoba that competed at the 2009 Canada Summer Games. This season Kleysen is averaging 19 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks per game in her final season with the Trojans. She was recently named tournament MVP at the St.Vital, Sisler and Saskatoon Guardian Invitational Tournaments.
“Stephanie will make an immediate impact for our team, she comes to our program bringing what all coaches want, the desire to be the best defender and rebounder on the floor. She is very athletic, great jumper, quick feet and an arm span to get a hand on every ball. She is very competitive and hates to lose”, added Tanya McKay.
Ashleigh Chichlowski, a 6’2 forward was a key member for the Trojans in last seasons Provincial AAAA High School Basketball Championships. This season she is averaging 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and five blocks for the number one ranked Trojans squad. She was recently named a tournament all-star at the Sisler High Invitational Tournament.
“Ashleigh can do a variety of things for our program. She can post up, hit the three, take it to the net and crash the boards with her size. Ashleigh wants be a player at the next level. She is driven to work hard and will definitely make her mark”, said McKay.
Kleysen and Chichlowski will join fellow Vincent Massey graduates, Mackenzie Prasek, twins Adele and Danielle Baril on the Wesmen roster next season.
